The Man High School football team expects to have a big year.

The state’s media agrees.

The Hillbillies are ranked No. 9 in the state in the Charleston Gazette-Mail’s 2015 Class A High School Football Preseason Poll.

Man was 6-5 last year and fell 16-12 in the first round of the Class A playoffs to Tug Valley at Mingo Central’s Buck Harlesss Stadium.

Tug Valley, 11-2 last year and a Class A state semifinalist, is ranked No. 3 in the preseason poll.

Man opens the season Aug. 28 at Class AAA Logan. Tug Valley hits the road at Pocahontas County.

Logan and Chapmanville were both unranked in the Class AAA and AA polls.

Chapmanville, 4-6 last year, did receive two votes and are a preseason No. 13 in the state.

Capital (13-0), last year’s 3A state champs, are ranked No. 1.

Bridgeport (13-1), last year’s Double-A state champs, sit atop its respective division.

The Cardinal Conference is represented by three teams in the top 10 in Class AA. Mingo Central (10-2) is second, Wayne (10-3) fifth and Sissonville (7-4) ninth. Sissonville opens the season Aug. 28 in a conference clash at Chapmanville. Herbert Hoover, another league team, received one vote.

Williamstown (12-2) is No. 1 in Class AA, edging out Magnolia (4-6) by two points.
