After big wins last week to open the season both the Chapmanville Regional High School and Man High School football teams are up in this week’s Charleston Gazette-Mail Football Poll.

Man (1-0), an 18-13 winner over Class AAA Logan, rose one spot from ninth to No. 8 in this week’s Single-A poll. The Hillbillies travel to Welch this week to play 2A Mount View (1-0).

Chapmanville (1-0), unranked last week in the Class AA preseason poll, shot up to No. 7 after scoring an easy 30-6 win at home last Friday over Sissonville, last week’s No. 9-ranked team. The Indians fell out of the top 10 after the loss. Chapmanville heads to Herbert Hoover (1-0) this Friday night. The Huskies are ranked No. 13 in the state.

The most dramatic movement was in Class AA.

That’s where the Tolsia Rebels scored a huge 49-34 upset win last week on the road at top 10 team Wayne. The win moved the unranked Rebels to No. 8 in the state in this week’s poll. Despite the win over Wayne, Tolsia is tied with the Pioneers (0-1) this week for eighth.

Mingo Central, an easy winner over Wyoming East last Friday in its season opener, is ranked No. 2 in the state this week in Class AA.

Bridgeport received all 10 first place votes and remain No. 1 in Class AA.

Capital is still No. 1 this week in Triple-A.

In the Single-A poll, Williamstown and Magnolia are tied for No. 1 this week.

Tug Valley, which routed Sherman last week in the season opener, dropped to No. 4 in the state from third.
