Mingo Central soccer team struggling

DELBARTON – The Mingo Central High School girls’ soccer team is 0-2 to start the 2015 season.

Mingo Central lost 17-0 at home last Friday night in a match played at the Burch football field in Delbarton.

The Lady Miners, coached by Michelle Vance, opened the season on Aug. 25 with a 12-0 loss at home to Scott.

Savannah Watts and Autumn Givens netted five goals each for Sissonville. Karli Pinkerton and Olivia Montgomery had two goals apiece. Riley Blasingim, Alexis Stricklen and Carly Crutchfield tallied one goal each.

The Lady Indians put the pressure on Mingo Central with 35 shots on goal.

Kenna Crum and Savannah Moon each had header non-goalie saves for the Lady Miners. Haley New and Bianca Vance also had saves.

Mingo Central goalie Jamie Moore had 15 saves and Goalie Savannah Estep had six stops.

The Lady Miners were scheduled to play at Shelby Valley (Ky.) on Tuesday night. On Wednesday, Mingo Central was slated to play at Herbert Hoover. MCHS then plays at Belfry (Ky.) on Sept. 12 at 3 p.m.

The next home match is Sept. 24 against Belfry.

The Mingo Central boys’ soccer team is also 0-2 on the season with losses to Scott (7-1) and Sissonville (4-0).
