The Logan Middle School football team jumped out to an early lead and beat Guyan Valley 34-6 last week in its season opener at the Logan Football Stadium.
Logan led 12-0 in the first quarter and took a commanding 28-0 lead at the half.
“This was a nice win for the team and allowed all of our players to be able to get playing time. It was an exciting night for everyone as we opened up at home on the new turf,” LMS coach Scott Grimmett said.
Logan quarterback David Early was 4-for-9 passing for 120 yards with one touchdown on a 34-yard pass to Sidney Chapman. He also passed for a 13-yard two-point conversion to Corey Townsend.
Damion Dehart had one reception for 54 yards and Troy Cowart caught a 19 yard pass for LMS.
David Early led the team in rushing with seven carries for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Early had two touchdowns called back on penalties with each of them being more than 70 yards.
Troy Cowart carried the ball four times for 79 yards and a touchdown. Tanner Lambert had three carries for 24 yards and a touchdown. Hunter Mileto had three carries for 21 yards.
On defense, Troy Cowart led the Timberwolves with 17 tackles and a forced fumble. Damian Dehart intercepted two passes and had one fumble recovery. Logan Cole and David Early also recoverd fumbles in the game.
