INEZ, K.y.– The Tug Valley High School football team improved to 4-0 with last Friday night’s 41-0 win over Sheldon Clark (Ky.), at Inez, Ky.
The Panthers have a huge showdown this coming Friday night at Class AA Tolsia, which is also undefeated with a 4-0 mark.
Tug Valley controlled the game with Sheldon Clark the entire way.
Phillip Lucas started off the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown run with 10:43 left to go in the first quarter. Jeremy Dillon added the extra point kick.
Dillon topped of the first quarter with an 11-yard touchdown run with 28 seconds left. The extra point kick was no good and the first quarter ended with the Panthers up 13-0.
With 34 seconds left to go before the end of the first half Lucas scored again when he punched it in from 1-yard out. Tyler Conley converted the two-point conversion with a pass to Corbin Oliver.
Calvin Blankenship then intercepted a pass and returned the ball 78 yards to pay dirt to make the score 27-0 at the half.
Dillon scored the next touchdown with 6:37 left to go in the third quarter on a 24-yard run. Jonathan Blankenship added the two point conversion to make the score 35-0.
Tyler Workman added the final score for the Panthers from a 4-yard run to seal the win for Tug Valley.
The Panthers held the Cardinals to only 71 yards rushing on 30 carries and completely shut down the passing game as Sheldon Clark was 0-for-7 in the air for no yards.
Dillon led the Panthers with five tackles, one sack and one interception. Ike Starr added four tackles, two of which were for a loss of yardage, and added one sack.
Offensively, the rushing attack was led by Dillon and Lucas. Dillon rushed seven times for 80 yards and added two rushing touchdowns. Lucas had nine carries for 40 yards and two touchdowns. Calvin Blankenship had two receptions for 55 yards.
