The Logan Middle School football team ran its record to 4-0 on the season with Thursday night’s 40-6 win over Ravenswood.
Logan led 40-6 at halftime and a running clock was used in the second half with Ravenswood scoring on the last play of game.
David Early was 6-for-10 passing for 240 yards and three touchdowns to lead LMS.
Sidney Chapman was the leading receiver with two catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Troy Coward had one catch for a 59-yard touchdown. Tanner Lambert reeled in two passes for 70 yards and Hunter Meade had one grab for three yards.
Early also carried the ball eight times for 153 yards with one touchdown and one two-point conversion for the Timberwolves.
Troy Cowart had two carries for 32 yards and one touchdown.
Branson Gore carried the ball one time for a successful two-point conversion.
Chapman added one carry for 16 yards.
Early also returned one punt 52 yards for a touchdown and had one interception return for another 40-yard score. Ethan Carter had one interception and one fumble recovery. Justin Collins made one tackle and recovered one fumble.
Cowart led the Logan defense with 19 tackles and five forced fumbles recovering two of them. Hunter Mileto had seven tackles and Early six.
LMS hosts Chapmanville Middle School this coming Thursday night at Logan Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
MAN — It was the battle of the unbeatens on Thursday night at Man’s George A. Queen Memorial Field as the Man Middle School Pioneers won 34-8 over the Madison RedHawks.
Man is now 3-0 on the season while Madison dropped to 3-1.
The Pioneers, led by legendary coach Tootie Carter, jumped out to an early 6-0 lead with 1:01 on the first period clock with a 2-yard TD run by Brock Muncy.
Man built its lead to 12-0 with 3:52 to go in the second quarter on a 5-yard touchdown run by Zach Frye. The two-point conversion failed but Man led 12-0.
The RedHawks then scored their only touchdown of the night on the ensuing kickoff on a 74-yard return for a score by Caleb Dingess. The conversion catch by Dingess was good to make it 12-8 with 3:37 to play in the first half.
The Pioneers answered with a TD on quarterback Caleb Milton’s 16-yard pass to Frye. Milton added the conversion run to give the Pioneers a 20-8 lead with just 1:18 to go until the break.
Man was able to tack on another score on Milton’s 2-yard pass to Frye with no time on the clock to give the Pioneers a 26-8 lead at the intermission.
The Pioneers tallied their final touchdown of the night with six minutes left in the fourth quarter on a 21-yard run by Cameron Frye. Quinton Moody scored on the two-point conversion as Man won 34-8.
Man travels to Oceana on Thursday night.
