The Logan High School football team was no match for Greenbrier East as the Spartans rolled into Logan Stadium on Friday night and rolled over the Wildcats 56-0.

East, ranked No. 19 in this week’s WVSSAC Ratings, improved to 4-3 on the season and put itself back into the playoff race.

Logan dropped to 2-4 and saw its 3A post-season hopes all but go by the wayside.

Jonathan Carr quickly put Logan on the defensive with a pair of first-quarter interceptions. Both turnovers led to scores with Zayvion Lawson’s 20-yard touchdown run and Carr’s 31-yard TD pass to Colby Johnson as the Spartans led 14-0 after one quarter.

Carr then found Josh McClung on a 6-yard TD pass and Johnson then hit Shy Atkinson on a 44-yard strike as East led 28-0 at the half.

The Spartans poured it on the the third quarter with touchdown runs by Lawson (60), Atkinson (6) and Carr (68). Lawson finished the game with 212 yards rushing on 17 attempts. He’s having a huge season for the Spartans.

Levi Hobbs scored on an 8-yard run to round out the scoring.

Logan, which turned the ball over four times, was led by Matt Cox who had 13 carries for 38 yards. Devin Hensley had two carries for 20 yards. QB Alex Toler was 8-for-20 passing for 58 yards. Cox had two grabs for 19 yards.
