The Man High School football team has dropped two spots to third in this week’s Class A WVSSAC Football Ratings, while Chapmanville Regional has risen to No. 5 in Double-A.
The SSAC ratings determine who make the playoffs. The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the post-season beginning Nov. 13 across the state.
Moorefield (6-0) and South Harrison (6-0) are tied for No. 1 this week in Class A with 10.5 points, ahead of No. 2 Magnolia (7-0) with 10.14 points. Man (5-1), which was handed its first loss of the season to Chapmanville last week, is third with 9.00 points.
Buffalo (6-0) and St. Marys (6-0) are tied for fourth, while East Hardy (5-1) is fifth and Bishop Donahue (6-1) and Wheeling Central Catholic (6-1) are tied for sixth. Pendleton County (5-2) is seventh, Williamstown (4-2) eighth, Tug Valley (5-2) ninth and Pocahontas County (5-2) 10th. Notre Dame (4-2) is 11th, Van (5-2) 12th, Valley Wetzel (4-2) 13th, Meadow Bridge (4-3) 14th, Tyler Consolidated (3-3) 15th and Calhoun County (4-3) 16th.
If the season ended today, Man would host Pocahontas County in a first-round game.
In Class AA, Fairmont (6-0) is No. 1 with 13.17 points, ahead of No. 2 Bridgeport (6-0-1), which has 12.57 points. James Monroe (6-0) is third, Tolsia (6-0) fourth and Chapmanville (7-0) fifth. Bluefield (5-1) is sixth, Roane County (6-1) seventh, Mingo Central (5-1) eighth, Summers County (6-1) ninth, Lincoln (5-1) 10th, Keyser (5-2) 11th, Weir (5-2) 12th, Robert C. Byrd (4-2) 13th, Independence (5-2) 14th, Herbert Hoover (4-2) 15th and Liberty Raleigh (4-2) and North Marion (3-3) are tied for 16th.
If the season ended today, Chapmanville would host RCB in a first-round game.
In this week’s Class AAA ratings, Cabell Midland (7-0) is No. 1 with 15.14 points. Point Pleasant (7-0) is a distant second with 12.86 points. Capital (5-1) is third, Jefferson (5-1) fourth, George Washington (5-1) fifth, Wheeling Park (4-1) sixth, Morgantown (5-2) seventh, Huntington (5-2) eighth, Martinsburg (4-2) ninth and Spring Valley (4-2) 10th.
Parkersburg South (4-2) and Princeton (4-2) are tied for 11th. Brooke (4-3) is 12th, Musselman (4-3) 13th, Greenbrier East (4-3) 14th, John Marshall (4-2) 15th and Preston (3-3) 16th.
