CHAPMANVILLE — The Man Middle School volleyball team split in its two matches at Chapmanville on Tuesday night, falling to Herbert Hoover and then beating the host host Chapmanville Regional Lady Tigers.
Man (12-11-1), fell to Hoover in two straight sets, 25-13, 25-22, then downed Chapmanville 28-26, 25-17.
Hannah Harvey had seven kills in the match with Hoover, while Shauntae Miller had five kills.
Allie Meade had five assists for Man and Hunter Harvey had four assists. Tiffany Belcher also had two assists.
In the match against Chapmanville, Allie Meade had six assists for the Lady Billies. Hunter Harvey had five assists, while Hannah Harvey had five kills.
Belcher had four kills for Man. Miller had three kills and Breona Childress had one kill.
“I felt like the last game against Hoover and the second game against Chapmanville we showed improvement,” Man coach Orlando Washington said. “Now we need to carry it over and keep improving our play.”
Herbert Hoover also defeated Chapmanville 22-25, 25-19, 25-16 to win the tri-match.
This past weekend, Man went 0-4-1 in the Charleston Catholic tournament.
Man tied host Charleston Catholic 1-1 and lost to Herbert Hoover (2-0), Clay County (2-1), Wirt County (2-0), Calhoun County (2-0).
The Lady Billies are scheduled to get back into action with Thursday’s home match against Wyoming East. The first serve is 6 p.m. Man plays in the Buffalo tournament on Saturday.
“Were are scheduled to play Princeton, Ravenswood and Nitro. I also would like some girls to step of so we can develop some stability in our rotation,” Washington said of the Buffalo tourney.
