Logan Middle School’s David Early has been on a tear this season.
Early, the Timberwolves’ quarterback, has been named as the Logan Banner Athlete of the Week this week.
Early was 4-for-9 passing for 78 yards with one touchdown pass and a two-point conversion — both to Sidney Chapman — as the T-Wolves defeated Point Pleasant 28-14 last Thursday night.
Early also led the team in rushing with eight carries for 127 yards and one score. He also ran in a two-point conversion. Early had a 70-yard touchdown called back for hurdling.
Logan Middle, coached by Scott Grimmett, improved to 6-1 on the season with the win and play at Hurricane this Thursday night in the regular season finale.
A win by Logan over Hurricane would give Logan Middle School’s football team team its best record in school history at 7-1, surpassing the 6-2 mark from 2003 — a team which was coached by current LHS mentor Gary Mullins in his only season as the T-Wolves’ coach.
A win over Hurricane would also advance Logan to the Mid-Valley Conference championship game for the first time in school history.
