The Chapmanville and Man high school football teams continue to slide in the weekly WVSSAC Computer Ratings.
The Class A Man Hillbillies (6-2) dropped to eighth in this week’s Single-A ratings, while Chapmanville Regional (7-2) fell to ninth in the Class AA rankings this week.
Both teams lost last week — the Tigers were a 76-45 loser at Tolsia, while Man was defeated 40-14 at home by Pocahontas County.
The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the upcoming playoffs with the top eight getting first-round home games.
In Class A, Magnolia (9-0) continues to sit in the No. 1 spot with 11.44 points. Second is South Harrison (7-1) with 10.13 points. Moorefield (7-1) is third, Buffalo (8-0) and East Hardy (7-1) are tied for fourth and Pendleton County (7-2) and Wheeling Central (7-1) are tied for sixth.
Man is eighth, while Tug Valley (7-2) is ninth. Man plays the TVHS Panthers this Friday night on the road.
Williamstown (6-2) is 10th, St. Marys (6-2) 11th, Pocahontas County (7-2) 12th, Bishop Donahue (6-2) 13th, Van (7-2) 14th, Clarksburg Notre Dame (6-2) 15th and Meadow Bridge (6-3) 16th.
If the season ended today, Man would host Tug Valley in a first-round playoff game. Ironically, the two teams met in the opening round of the Class A playoffs last season at Mingo Central, with the Panthers winning 16-12.
In this week’s Class AA ratings, Bridgeport (7-0-1) is first with 13.38 points, while Tolsia (8-0) is second with 13.00 points. Fairmont Senior (7-1) is third, Bluefield (6-1) fourth, James Monroe (7-1) fifth, Mingo Central (7-1) sixth, Lincoln (7-1) seventh, Keyser (6-2) eighth, Chapmanville ninth and Herbert Hoover (7-2) 10th.
Summers County (6-2) is 11th, Roane County (6-3) 12th, Weir (6-3) 13th, Robert C. Byrd (5-3) 14th, Westside (5-3) 15th and Liberty Raleigh (5-3) 16th.
If the season ended today, Chapmanville would travel to Keyser for a first-round playoff game, while Mingo Central would host Summers County and Tolsia would host Westside.
In this week’s Class AAA rankings, Cabell Midland (8-0) is again No. 1 with 16.63 points. Point Pleasant (9-0) is a distant second with 12.89 points. Wheeling Park (6-1-1) is third, Capital (6-2) fourth, Martinsburg (6-2) fifth, Jefferson (6-2) sixth, Huntington (7-2) seventh, Morgantown (7-2) eighth, George Washington (6-2) ninth and Brooke (6-3) 10th.
Musselman (6-3) is 11th in 3A, while Greenbrier East (5-3) is 12th, Spring Valley (5-3) is 13th and Princeton (5-3) and South Charleston (5-3) are tied for 14th. Spring Mills (5-3) is 16th.
