Friday night was Devil’s night, the night before Halloween.
And it was only fitting that the Logan High School football team’s opponent was the Oak Hill Red Devils.
The Wildcats have had a devil of a time so far this season but were able to get off the schneid with a 35-14 win over the Red Devils at Logan Stadium.
The win snapped Logan’s five-game losing skid as LHS improved to 3-6 on the season. Oak Hill, one of the worst rated teams in the state, dropped to 1-8.
A win is a win and Logan is happy to get it, especially after last week’s humiliating 56-0 loss on the road at 2A Sissonville.
Logan QB Alex Toler was 8-for-12 passing for 108 yards with two touchdowns. Matt Cox had 24 rushes for 150 yards and two touchdowns on runs of 3 and 3 yards. Cox also had two catches for 33 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown.
Devin Hensley had seven carries for 34 yards. Michael Hall had one rush for 11 yards.
Jamal Minter had four catches for 66 yards and two scores covering 6 and 28 yards. Tyler Browning had two grabs for nine yards.
Augustine Chukwu-Noe was 3-for-4 in extra point kicks.
Daniel Browning led the Logan defense with 14 tackles. Devonte had 11 tackles, while Minter had eight. Nate Smith and Chukwu-Noe had six each. Hunter Vance, Tyler Browning and Jordan Oney each had five tackles. Shawntez Matthews, Cox and Musco Adams had four each. Hensley and David Cruz had three stops each and Chance Conn had two.
Daniel Browning added three special teams tackles. Oney had two stops.
Oney, Chukwu-Noe and Daniel Browning each had a sack.
Tyler Browning had two pass break-ups. Cox and Smith had one each.
Logan is scheduled to close out the season next Friday night at home against Scott.
