The Man High volleyball team improved its record to 19-17-1 on Thursday night by beating Greater Beckley Christian to win their second consecutive sectional championship.
Man won 3-1 by the scores of 23-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-18.
Hannah Harvey had six kills and seven blocks for Man. Shauntae Miller had five kills and three blocks. Tiffany Belcher had five kills and three blocks.
Hunter Harvey had nine assists and Allie Meade seven.
Lauren Zealy, Addison Gibson and Madie Meade also made contributions in the win.
The Lady Billies advanced to the Class A regionals, where Man was scheduled to play Saturday evening at Appalachian Bible College in Beckley against Greenbrier West for the opportunity to advance to the regional championship later that night.
Greater Beckley Christian and Fayetteville were in the other regional matchup.
The two regional winners are set to advance to this week’s state volleyball tournament at the Charleston Civic Center.
Man coach Orlando Washington said his team is playing very well.
“The chemistry of our team has changed for the better and because of it we are experiencing more success,” Washington said. “I have also changed a few things up in practice. It is always fun to play for a championship and we have the opportunity to repeat as regional champions and I believe we will if we keep our focus because we want to be the best in Region III and not the second best. I am really excited to see what my young ladies will do.”
Man is looking for a third straight trip to the state tourney.
