The members of the Chapmanville and Man high school volleyball teams have been named this week as the Logan Banner Athletes of the Week.
Both the Lady Billies and Lady Tigers advanced to the West Virginia State Volleyball Tournament last Friday at the Charleston Civic Center.
Man, making its third straight trip to the Class A state tourney, lost its opening round match to Tyler Consolidated 3-0.
The Lady Billies fell 25-14, 25-10, 25-15 to Tyler.
Chapmanville Regional High School, making its first ever trip to the Class AA state volleyball tournament in school history, lost 3-0 to Philip Barbour.
The Lady Tigers fell in three straight sets, 25-13, 26-24, 25-12 to get ousted from state play.
Friday marked the final match for Chapmanville’s senior class, including Savannah Wiley, Addy Lucas and Shian Meeks. The Lady Tigers are coached by Johnny Williamson.
Man has two seniors — Hannah Harvey and Tiffany Belcher — and they saw their final prep action on Friday in Charleston. Man is coached by Orlando Washington.
Both Chapmanville and Man had won sectional championships and then qualified last week during the regionals to advance to state. It was the first ever sectional title for CRHS.
