CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Middle School girls’ basketball team ran its record to 2-0 on the season with Monday night’s hard fought 28-22 win at home over Duval.

Olivia Dalton led the way for CMS with 11 points. Lauren Hines and K.K. Davis each had six points with Charlie Mullins tossing in five. Taylor Baisden and Hollie Blair gave the Lady Tigers good rebounding and defensive games.

Carly McComas led Duval with 12 points.

“We excuted the game plan nicely tonight,” CMS coach Tommy Kirk said. “We have to play good defense until we find ourselves on offense. We are working hard every day trying to fit the pieces altogether. This team has to find what works for us. We need to find out what we can do good at and get better at the things we don’t do well.”

* Next up is the CMS Boys’ State Farm Showcase on Saturday. Games start at 10.30 a.m. and last all day.

The first game pits Harts and Fort Gay at 10:30. Logan Middle School then takes on Wayne at noon and Madison plays Oceana at 1:30 p.m.

Hamlin battles with Williamson at 3, Man squares off with Clay County at 4:30 and the Chapmanville Middle School boys play Hurricane at 6:30.
