The Chapmanville Middle School girls’ basketball team traveled to Hamlin on Monday and came away with an easy 51-23 win over the Bobcats.
Chapmanville jumped out to a quick 28-7 lead and never looked back, allowing for some valuable playing time for
K.K. Davis had a huge night for CMS, pouring in 26 points. Olivia Dalton had 10 and Lauren Hines five. Taylor Basiden, Charlie Mullins, Alexis Toler, Cameron Dodrill and Chelsea Fields each had two points.
“We played a little more up-tempo game and it helped us flow better and get a few more layups,” CMS coach Tommy Kirk said. “We passed the ball really good finding the open players most of the night.”
CMS is set to play at Man Middle School on Thursday night.
The Nationwide Insurance Girls Showcase will then be played on Saturday.
Harts Middle School takes on Oceana in the first game at 9:30 a.m. Sherman plays Lenore at 10:30 and Duval squares off with Williamson at noon.
Van then plays Kermit at 1:30 p.m. and Logan Middle School tips off with Wayne at 3. CMS plays Clay County at 5:30 p.m.
Last Saturday, the State Farm Boys Showcase was played at CMS. Six games were played as Fort Gay beat Harts, Logan defeated Wayne, Madison downed Oceana, Williamson beat Hamlin, Man won over Clay County and Hurricane was a winner over CMS.
