Lady Cats routed by Huntington, 69-25

The Logan High School girls’ basketball team took it on the chin on Thursday night as Class AAA sectional rival Huntington romped over the Lady Cats, 69-25, at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena.

Beth Adkins led Logan (2-4) with 10 points.

Several players had big games for Huntington.

Dazha Congleton and Jordyn Dawson each had double-doubles for the Highlanders. Congleton scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Dawson tallied 10 points and pulled down 10 boards.

Ericka Budd scored 12 points and snatched eight rebounds for Huntington.

Mariah Harmon and Emily Foley scored 10 points apiece.

The Lady Cats were scheduled to host North Marion on Saturday before hosting Morgantown on Dec. 30. LHS then hosts Chapmanville on Jan. 4.

* In other action on Thursday night, the Man High School girls’ basketball team lost 59-21 at Class AA Westside.

The Lady Billies fell to 2-5 on the season with the loss.

Man is scheduled to host River View on Tuesday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Greater Beckley Christian 71

The Man High School boys’ basketball team won 75-71 at Greater Beckley Christian on Friday night.

John Thomas Keffer and Cameron Simpson led the way for Man with 18 points each. Jake Adkins had 15 and Kenny Jo Adkins 14 for the Hillbillies.

Gabby Brown had six and Erik Files four.

Jake Adkins pulled down nine rebounds and Brown seven. Keffer dished out nine assists. Kenny Jo Adkins also had four steals.

Devin Acord led Greater Beckley with 26 points.

Man plays in the Chapmanville tourney Dec. 28 and 29.
