CHAPMANVILLE — After a solid performance this week in Chapmanville Regional High School’s Bob Runyon Memorial Holiday Tournament, Chapmanville’s Drew Williamson has been named as the Logan Banner Athlete of the Week this week.
Williamson, a 6-foot-1 sophomore guard, sank several 3-pointers in the tournament and helped the Tigers win the championship with a 77-71 victory over county rival Man in the finals.
Williamson netted 24 points in the victory over the Hillbillies on Tuesday night.
On Monday night in the Bob Runyon tourney first-round, Williamson scored 21 points in the Tigers’ come-from-behind 50-46 win over Mount View.
Williamson was named to the all-tournament team along with CRHS teammates Kyle Browning and Tyler Moore.
Williamson comes from an athletic family.
His dad, CRHS assistant coach Andy Paul Williamson, is a former basketball standout at Harts High School and Marshall University.
Drew’s older brother Paul Herbert Williamson played four years at Logan High School and one year at WVU.
His sister Andi Williamson was an all-state softball standout at Harts and Chapmanville and later went to be a star pitcher at Marshall. She is currently a professional pitcher in the Japan league and also the NPF.
