CHAPMANVILLE — It was a blowout on Wednesday night as the Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ basketball team routed the rival Scott Lady Hawks 62-24 at Chapmanville’s Danny Godby Gymnasium.
The win improved Chapmanville to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the Cardinal Conference.
Scott led 12-11 after one quarter but it was all Lady Tigers after that.
Chapmanville outscored the Lady Hawks 18-11 in the second to take a 29-23 halftime lead. Chapmanville then blanked Scott with a 22-0 third quarter, grabbing a commanding 51-23 lead. An 11-1 fourth quarter then finished out the scoring as Scott only managed to score a single point in the second half.
Shian Meeks led Chapmanville with 17 points. She also had three rebounds, six assists and five steals.
Abby Marcum tossed in 12 points and Madison Webb and Haven Adkins had eight points each. Webb also pulled down seven rebounds and had three assists and one blocked shot.
Kaylee Blair contributed six points, eight boards, one steal and one block.
Reese Ellis had three points, while point guard NeNe Osborne had two points and four steals.
Katie Workman, Brooklyn Evans and Shay Pridemore all had two points.
Victoria Ellis paced Scott with 10 points. Blair Byrnside had five, Mary Boggess four, Brooke Burns three and Haley Cash two.
Morgantown had no problem with Logan on Wednesday as the Lady Mohigans rolled to a 49-28 win at Logan over the Lady Cats.
Morgantown led 12-6 after one quarter, 22-14 at the half and 38-20 after three. MHS outscored Logan 11-8 in the fourth.
Monica Mitchell led Logan (3-5) with 20 points. Beth Adkins had three, Ashton Spry and Jamyya Knox had two each and Ally Sipple had one point.
Morgantown stayed unbeaten and improved to 8-0 on the season.
Logan has now dropped three straight games and is 1-5 over its last six contests.
LHS is slated to host Chapmanville on Monday, Jan. 4.
