The slide continued for the Logan High School girls’ basketball team on Thursday night with a 57-42 loss on the road at Lincoln County.
Logan dropped to 3-7 and saw its losing skid hit five games.
The Lady Cats are just 1-7 since opening the season with wins over Chapmanville and Lincoln County. Logan beat LC 55-45 on Dec. 4.
Logan trailed Lincoln County 14-12 after one quarter in Thursday’s game but led 23-22 at the half. The Lady Panthers then dominated the second half, outscoing Logan 18-13 to grab a 40-36 lead after three and then outpointing LHS 17-6 in the fourth to put the game away.
Logan was led by senior all-state center Monica Mitchell, who dropped in 13 points. She was the only double figure scorer for Logan.
Britney Welch, Beth Adkins and Ashton Spry netted six each. Faith Damron had four, Chelsea Napier three, Brigette Duncan two and Jamyya Knox and Kaileah Williams had one each.
The Lady Cats were scheduled to play at Class AAA No. 1-ranked Morgantown on Saturday. Logan then hits the road to play at Spring Valley on Wednesday night.
Morgantown beat Logan 49-28 on Dec. 30 at LHS.
The Man High School girls’ basketball team improved to 3-6 on the season with Friday night’s 34-31 win at Montcalm.
Man freshman Allie Meade scored on a layup late to seal the win.
Morgan Muncy paced Man with 19 points. Summer Combs had five, Courtney Hinkle and Meade had four each and Chelsie Vance tossed in two.
Stormy Carver had eight points, 11 rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals for Montcalm (7-3). Heather Nicewander pitched in 10 points and Savanna Bailey had six points.
Man led 12-7 after one quarter and 18-12 at the half before falling behind 25-23 after three. Man’s 11-6 fourth quarter ended up being the difference.
The Lady Billies are scheduled to play at Van on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Man then plays at Teays Valley Christian on Thursday night.
