CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Middle School girls’ basketball team won a hard fought 29-21 battle over Madison last Monday at the CMS gym.

It was the first of three wins this week for CMS.

Trailing 10-6 at the half in a low scoring game, the Lady Tigers controlled the second half to gain the win.

K.K. Davis led the way with 10 points, followed by Olivia Dalton with six and Charlie Mullins and Lauren Hines with four each. Taylor Baisden had three and Jadye Kuenzel two. Diana Birchfield and Sarah Mayse led Madison with eight points each.

The Lady Tigers hosted Van Middle on Thursday gaining a 41-19 victory. Baisden led the way with 12 points, followed by Dalton with 10. Davis and Hollee Blair each had six points. Mullins had four, Alexis Toler two and Kuenzel one.

The Lady Tigers finished the week Saturday with a 55-10 win over Poca Middle. Dalton sparked Chapmanville with 17 points, while Blair had 12. Toler tossed in seven, while Lauren Hines had six, Davis five, Muillins four and Baisden and Toler had two points each.

“We’ve been struggling lately. We play good for a spurt and then seems we just disappear for awhile,” CMS coach Tommy Kirk said. “The girls are working hard. I think we may be trying too hard. We played much better against Poca Saturday.”

The Lady Tigers’ next game will be against undefeated Harts Middle on Monday, Jan. 25.
