The Logan High School boys’ basketball team closed out the trip 0-3 with Saturday afternoon’s 60-47 loss at Brooke — a team with only one win on the season.
The Wildcats, which dropped to 5-7, had started out the road trip with last Tuesday’s 71-53 loss at Winfield. Logan then headed north and played well at Wheeling Park before bowing 49-47 in double overtime to the Patriots.
Braxton Goff led Logan with a 20-point effort against Brooke. Khalil Murphy had 10 and Kyle Porter nine. Ben Kazee had three and Will Akers and Jamal Minter had two apiece. Augustine Chukwu-Noe had one point.
Thomas Cole led the Bruins with 21 points. Brooke improved to 2-8 with the win.
Logan now has a four-game home stand. The Cats are scheduled to get back into action with Thursday’s home game against Johnson Central (Ky.). Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena.
Johnson Central comes into the game with a 10-7 record.
The Golden Eagles have won seven straight games after a 3-7 start.
Logan and Johnson Central have not met in more than 10 years. The last meeting was in Logan’s old holiday tournament in the early 2000s.
LHS then hosts Westside on Saturday night in another 7:30 p.m. tip.
Logan then plays host to the King Coal Classic on Jan. 29 and Jan. 30, taking on Wyoming East and Mountain Mission (Va.), a powerhouse prep school.
