Billies land No. 10 spot in Class A poll

After a string of recent victories, the Man High School boys’ basketball team is ranked No. 10 in the state this week in the Class A Associated Press media poll.

The Hillbillies are 8-2 after winning 56-46 over James Monroe on Monday night.

Man’s Class A sectional rival Tug Valley (9-1) was ranked No. 2 in the state in Class A. The Billies and Panthers were scheduled to play at Naugatuck on Tuesday night.

Wheeling Central (10-0) is first in Class A. The Maroon Knights received all 10 first-place votes.

Cardinal Conference member Poca (9-2) is No. 1 in Class AA again this week. The Dots are the defending state champs. Wyoming East (7-2) is eighth. Herbert Hoover and Tolsia, also of the Cardinal, received votes.

Huntington (9-0) is No. 1 this week in Class AAA. The Highlanders garnered all 10 first-place votes. Morgantown (9-0) is second.

On the girls’ side, Morgantown (12-0) is No. 1 in the state in 3A. Huntington (12-0) is second.

Wyoming East (13-0) is ranked No. 1 in Class AA as the Lady Warriors snagged all 10 first-place votes. Sissonville (8-2) of the Cardinal Conference, is eighth. Wayne, another Cardinal team is 10th. The Pioneers are 10-2 on the season.

Huntington St. Joe (10-1) is No. 1 in this week’s Class A poll.
