Wayne made it a sweep over the Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ basketball team with Wednesday night’s 67-46 victory over the Lady Tigers at Chapmanville’s Danny Godby Gymnasium.
Wayne, ranked No. 10 in the state in Class AA this week, improved to 12-2 overall and 7-0 in the Cardinal Conference and stayed No. 1 in the league standings.
Chapmanville, fourth place in the Cardinal, dropped to 6-7, 4-4.
Lakyn Adkins tossed in 21 points to lead the Pioneers in the win over CRHS. Whitney Sansom had 11 and Aeriel Adkins pitched in 10.
Chapmanville got 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal from Shian Meeks.
Lexi Martin had six points, two assists, two blocked shots and one assist.
Taylor Manns tossed in five points and also had five boards, one assist and one block.
Madison Webb had four points, six rebounds, three blocks, one steal and one assist.
NeNe Osborne finished with four points and also dished out three assists and had three steals.
Abby Marcum contributed two points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Katie Workman had two points and one board for CRHS, while Kaylee Blair had two points, five rebounds and one steal.
Jacy Baxter had two points, one board and one steal.
Shae Pridemore had one rebound and one blocked shot. Richelle Thompson had one assist.
The Lady Tigers had lost 48-40 at Wayne on Jan. 7 in the previous meeting between the two schools.
CRHS is scheduled to return to action with Friday’s conference game at Herbert Hoover. The Huskies are fifth place in the Cardinal at 5-8, 3-4.
Chapmanville then hosts Sherman in a non-conference game on Feb. 2 before going to Poca on Feb. 4 in another league meeting.
