CMS boys on 7-game winning streak

CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Middle School boys’ basketball team won its seventh straight game and ran its record to 12-2 on the season with last Thursday night’s 67-33 win over Van Middle School.

The Tigers used their full court press to squeeze out the Bulldogs, which scored only four first-quarter points and 14 at the half as CMS led 35-14.

Chapmanville tallied 17 points in the third to take a 52-22 lead.

The Tigers were led by Philip Mullins with 19 points. He was followed by Isaac Dixon with 15 and Reed Dingess with seven. Nathan White and Levi Bailey had six points apiece, Andrew Williams had five, Josh Bumgarner four and Preston Smith three.

Chapmanville had earlier beat Van 57-23 recently behind 15 points from Mullins. Dingess had nine, Braxton Manns and Dixon had seven each, Bumgarner five and White four.

CMS also won recently over Poca 55-40 as White tossed in 20 points. Dingess and Mullins had 12 each, Dixon six and Andrew Williams five.


Chapmanville 37,

Man 17

The Man Middle School girls’ basketball team fell to 5-7 on the season with a 37-17 loss to Chapmanville Middle on Monday night.

Cierra Mosley had eight points for Man. Karissa Anderson had four, Carlee Muncy had three and Desiree Wise had two points.

Chapmanville was led by Lauren Hines with nine points.

Man 26,

Madison 25 (OT)

The Man Lady Pioneers won 26-25 over Madison in overtime on Saturday.

Karissa Anderson had nine points to pace Man Middle.

Desiree Wise had six points and Shania Kennedy five. Cierra Mosley had four points and Olivia Ramsey two.

Madison was led by Diana Birchfield with 14 points.

Van 27, Man 26

The Man Lady Pioneers lost a narrow 27-26 game to Van on Jan. 19. Van won at the buzzer on a shot by A. Sampson.

Shania Kennedy and Cierra Mosley each had seven points. Karissa Anderson had six, Olivia Ramsey five and Carlee Muncy had one point.

Sampson led Van with 16 points.

Man was just 4-for-23 from the free throw line.
