MAN — The Westside High School girls’ basketball team thoroughly pounded the Man Lady Billies 58-24 on Monday night at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.
Man dropped to 6-8 on the season with the defeat.
The Lady Billies had previously lost 48-37 at Sherman on Jan. 19 and won 27-20 at home over Montcalm on Jan. 28.
Man went up 2-0 on Westside at the 5:46 mark of the first quarter with a Sasha Moody bucket in the paint.
It was all Westside after that.
The Lady Renegades then went on a 13-0 run to grab a 13-2 lead.
Westside led 15-4 after one quarter, 24-9 at the half and 42-12 after three.
No Lady Billies broke into double digits in scoring.
Morgan Muncy led Man with eight points. Summer Combs had five, Sarah Blevins four and Allie Meade, Chelsie Vance and Moody had two each. Courtney Hinkle had one point.
Brooke Russell led Westside with 15 points. Beth Bledsoe and Ashton Lester had 10 points apiece. Kelsey Christian had six and Morgan Thomas and Katie Smith tallied five each. Brooke Gallion and Kayla Alger had three each. Carla Cook chipped in with one point.
The Lady Billies were just 8-for-17 from the free throw line. Westside was 12-for-21.
Man is scheduled to return to action on Friday at Greater Beckley Christian. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Man then hosts Mount View on Feb. 8 and goes to Cross Lanes Christian on Feb. 9.
