CHAPMANVILLE — For the second time this basketball season, Chapmanville Regional High School’s Drew Willliamson has been named as the Logan Banner Athlete of the Week.

Williamson, a 6-foot-1 sophomore guard, netted seven 3-pointers and poured in a game-high 29 points but it wasn’t enough as Chapmanville Regional lost 69-64 to Huntington St. Joe at Logan High School’s Willie Akers Arena last Friday in the King Coal Classic.

Williamson, second in the Cardinal Conference in scoring at just a hair under 20 points per game, buried six 3s in the first half, including five in the second quarter alone to lead the Tigers.

He also helped lead a late-game Tiger surge.

The Tigers (8-5) were scheduled to play at No. 1-ranked Poca on Tuesday night.

Chapmanville then plays at Scott on Friday night before taking on Wyoming East on Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. in the Little General Shootout at the Big House at the Charleston Civic Center.
