Billies move up to 9th in state

The Man High School boys’ basketball team have moved up one spot to ninth in the state in this week’s Associated Press Class A poll.

The Hillbillies are 11-3 on the season and are riding a three-game winning streak.

Man beat Ambassador Christian Academy of Williamson, 98-78, on Jan. 21, then followed that up with wins over Greater Beckley Christian (71-65) on Jan. 26 and another win over the ACA Eagles (85-70) on Jan. 28.

The Billies are scheduled to return to action with Friday night’s road game at Tug Valley. The Panthers (12-2) fell to fourth place in this week’s Class A poll.

Van moved up to 10th in this week’s Single-A poll. The Bulldogs are 12-2.

Chapmanville Regional (8-6) received one vote in the 2A poll. The Tigers lost 60-37 at No. 1 Poca (11-2) on Tuesday. Wyoming East (8-3) is sixth.

Huntington (12-0) and Morgantown (12-0) are one, two in 3A.

Wheeling Central (12-1) sits atop this week’s Class A poll.
