Billies topple Paden City in Shootout

CHARLESTON — The Man High School boys’ basketball team got an early wake-up call on Monday morning and defeated the Paden City Wildcats 57-36 in the first game of the Little General Shootout in the Big House at the Charleston Civic Center.

The game tipped off at 9:30 a.m. and was the first of 31 games in the annual tournament, which is scheduled to run until Wednesday.

Senior John Thomas Keffer led the Hillbillies with 15 points. Kenny Jo Adkins had 14 and Jake Adkins 11. Josh Adkins netted seven, Gabby Brown and Cameron Simpson tossed in four each and Brandon Cook had two points.

Luke Cooper led Paden City (7-11) with 14 points.

No further details were available on the game.

Man improved to 12-4 on the season with the win.

The Billies were scheduled to host Sherman on Tuesday night, weather permitting. Man then heads to Mount View on Friday night.

Man dropped back one spot to 10th in the state in this week’s Class A media poll.
