It’s been smooth sailing so far for the Logan 7-8-year-old Little League All-Star baseball team.
The Logan All-Stars, making its return to Little League Baseball, was scheduled to play in Thursday night’s District 2 championship game against Madison at the Pineville Little League Field in Wyoming County.
Logan had competed in the Cal Ripken League the past five years.
Logan carried a 4-0 record heading into the finals, after scoring a 16-7 victory over Matewan in Wednesday night’s tourney semifinals.
The Logan All-Stars opened the district tourney with last Saturday’s 19-0 win over Oceana. Logan then routed Baileysville 17-5 on Sunday and rolled over Sandy River, 28-9, on Monday night.
Several Logan 7-8 all-stars are having big tournaments.
Second baseman Jordan Allie is 13-for-18 at the plate with a hefty .722 batting average.
First baseman Eli Messer is 12-for-17 with a .705 batting average.
Ivan Miller, who plays the pitcher’s position, is 16-for-18 for an .889 average.
Logan third baseman Luke Blankenship is 12-for-16 with a .750 average.
Shortstop Noah Vance has only been out once during the tourney and has a .941 batting average as he is 16-for-17 at the plate.
Logan right fielder Cameron Williamson is so far 8-for-12 in the district tourney with a .667 average.
Catcher Alton Ellis is 12-for-17 with a .706 clip, while left fielder Devon Stewart is 8-for-12 with a .667 average.
Logan center fielder Adam Baisden is 7-for-8 with an .875 average.
Left fielder Braden Noe is 5-for-9 with a .556 mark. Adex Martin also has a hit.
As a team, Logan is batting .775 with 111 hits in 153 trips to the plate.
The 9-10 District 2 Little League Tournament is scheduled to begin this Saturday at Chapmanville with four games.
The following week on July 6, the 11-12-year-old District 2 Tournament is slated to get under way. That tourney is scheduled to take place in Madison.
