Lady Tigers crush winless Scott

The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ basketball team crushed winless Scott 55-26 on Thursday night in Madison.

Chapmanville, now 11-8 overall and 7-5 in the Cardinal Conference, were led by freshmen Madison Webb and Kaylee Blair who tossed in 10 points each.

Caitlin Workman, Taylor Manns and Shian Meeks tossed in six each. Abby Marcum, NeNe Osborne and Lexi Martin had four apiece. Brooklyn Evans had three and Reese Ellis two.

Webb also had three rebounds and one assist, while Meeks finished with four rebounds, four assists, five steals and one blocked shot.

Osborne had one rebound, one assist and two steals.

Marcum had three boards, one assist and one steal.

Workman contributed four boards, one assist, one block and one steal.

Manns had five rebounds and two steals.

Blair had nine boards, two steals and one assist.

Martin finished with four assists, two steals and one board.

Thompson had two boards, two steals and one assist.

Jaci Baxter also had six rebounds and one steal.

Ellis had one board, one assist and one steal, while Evans also had two rebounds.

Amelia Setser paced the Lady Hawks with eight points. Scott dropped to 0-18, 0-12 with the loss.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 20-1 lead after one quarter and never looked back.

CRHS swept the season series with Scott.

Chapmanville is scheduled to play at Sherman on Monday before hitting the road again on Tuesday to play at Sissonville. The regular season finale and Senior Night game for CRHS is Thursday vs. Mingo Central.

In other Cardinal Conference girls’ action on Thursday night: Poca beat Mingo Central 63-31; Herbert Hoover downed Tolsia 48-45; and conference leading and defending Class AA state champion Sissonville won over No. 8-ranked Wayne 57-51 in a league showdown. Sissonville is ranked No. 4 in the state.
