CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Regional High School boys’ basketball team made it a sweep of the Mingo Central Miners with Saturday night’s 60-44 win at Chapmanville’s Danny Godby Gymnasium.
Chapmanville improved to 10-7 overall and 5-5 in the Cardinal Conference with the win. The Tigers are in a fourth-place tie with Tolsia in the league standings. The Rebels are also 5-5 in conference play and 11-7 overall.
Mingo Central, last place in the Cardinal, fell to 2-16, 2-9.
Chapmanville had beaten the Miners 61-55 earlier in the season at Mingo Central.
The Tigers never trailed and were led by sophomore guard Drew Williamson’s 15 points. Hunter Neil had 12 points and Tyler Moore 10.
The Miners were paced by Dalton Hatfield’s 11 points.
Chapmanville is scheduled to return to action with Tuesday night’s game at Sissonville. The Indians are 10-7, 6-4 on the season. CRHS beat Sissonville 65-55 on Jan. 19 at home.
The Tigers then host Wayne on Friday night and Tolsia on Saturday evening. The regular season finale is Feb. 23 at Man in a non-conference contest.
The Miners play at Herbert Hoover on Wednesday night and travel to Scott on Friday night. The finale is Feb. 23 at home against Class A Mingo County rival Tug Valley. Mingo Central lost 60-40 to Tug Valley on Jan. 27 in the previous meeting between the two schools.
