The Madison Middle School boys’ basketball team rallied to defeat the Chapmanville Middle School Tigers 63-57 in overtime on Thursday night in the Black Diamond Conference championship game at the CMS gym.
Madison trailed by 12 points with just three minutes left but were able to force overtime.
CMS went on a 14-0 run and take a 30-20 lead at halftime. Josh Bumgarner led Chapmanville with 13 points in the first half alone.
Chapmanville then got into foul trouble and Madison was able to hit a perfect 16-of-16 from the foul line in the fourth quarter and the OT period combined.
The Tigers were just 4-for-13 from the line in the closing periods.
Madison finished with an 18-2 record. The RedHawks are 38-2 over the last two seasons.
JoJo Hamilton led Madison with 29 points.
Nathan White led Chapmanville (18-3) with 18 points.
The two teams had split during the regular season.
