MADISON – The 28th Annual Boone County Mountaineer Golf Outing, Pig Roast and Barbeque will be held on Saturday, July 18 at the Riverview Country Club in Madison.
The WVU Alumni group will present two season football tickets as the grand door prize at dinner.
Boone County and Van High School graduate Tony Gibson, the defensive coordinator for WVU, will be in attendance along with President Gordon Gee and several other WVU dignitaries.
The golf registration is at 10 a.m. and it will be a scramble golf tournament. The entry fee is $100 per person, which includes cart, green fees, T-shirt, dinner and membership. Organizers said it is most important to sign-up and pay early as the golf slots fill up quickly.
The golf tournament, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. and finish at 3:00 p.m., will offer prizes on every hole.
The dinner and entertainment is $20 per person and will be from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. WVU students and guests will be recognized and dinner is free for full-time WVU students.
There will be door prizes and a live auction for many quality items, including WVU memorabilia. The group said there will be a number of attractive items, including a storage building donated by Rex Mitchell.
You do not have to be a graduate of WVU to attend. This is a great family event and children are welcome.
All proceeds go to the scholarship fund for our local Boone County WVU students. Every Boone County full-time student registered for the fall semester at WVU who attends the pig roast will receive a $50 book scholarship at The Book Exchange.
