CRHS ranked 11th in final prep poll

The Chapmanville Regional High School boys’ basketball team is ranked No. 11 in the state in Class AA in the final Associated Press poll of the season, which was released earlier this week.

Chapmanville improved to 15-8 on the season with Tuesday night’s 65-41 victory over Tolsia in the Class AA sectional semifinals at Logan High School’s Willie Akers Arena.

The Tigers are set to face unranked Scott (11-12) in Friday night’s sectional championship game. The Skyhawks advanced to the finals with Tuesday’s 78-60 win over Wayne in sectional play.

Poca (21-2) remains No. 1 in the state in the final 2A poll. The Dots annihilated Nicholas County 104-49 on Tuesday night in sectional play.

The Dots, a member of the Cardinal Conference, play league rival Sissonville in Friday night’s sectional title game. The Indians won 56-45 over conference foe Herbert Hoover in the sectional tourney on Tuesday.

Wyoming East (17-3) is ranked No. 4 in Class AA.

Morgantown (21-0) is No. 1 this week in Class AAA, while Huntington (20-1) is second.

Wheeling Central (20-1), Magnolia (18-2) and Tug Valley (17-3) are one, two and three this week in the Class A poll.

Tug Valley advanced in the Region 3 Section 1 tournament on Tuesday with a 92-43 win over Sherman. The Panthers play host to No. 9-ranked Van (19-4) in Friday night’s finals. Van beat Man 63-55 in sectional play on Tuesday night to eliminate the Hillbillies.
