The 9-10-year-old District 2 Little League Baseball Tournament was scheduled to get under way on Saturday at Chapmanville’s Tracy Vickers Field with four games.
Host Chapmanville played Welch in the opener. Game 2 saw Logan take on Man in an all-Logan County affair. Game 3 had Omar battling it out with Pineville. The last game of the night had Matewan taking on Madison.
No results were available as of presstime.
Action is scheduled to continue on Sunday with three more games in the double-elimination tournament.
At 1 p.m., Tug Valley is set to play the Chapmanville/Welch winner.
At 3 p.m., the Logan/Man winner faces off with the Pineville/Omar winner.
The last game of the day at 5 has the Chapmanville/Welch winner battling it out with the Logan/Man loser.
This summer’s Little League all-star season marks the return to Logan to Little League Baseball.
Logan had competed in the Cal Ripken League the past five years.
In Logan’s last go-round in the Little League Baseball in 2009, the Logan 11-12-year-old All-Stars reached the state tournament semifinals before getting ousted.
The 11-12 District 2 tourney is scheduled to begin on July 6 in Madison.
