The West Virginia Dream eighth-grade girls AAU team has picked right up where they left off last season.
Last year, the Dream closed their season out with a tourney championship in the prestigious GBA Morgantown event.
Last weekend, at Tournament Time’s Fast Break Shootout in Huntington, the team captured the tourney title in the Elite Gold Division by defeating the Bluegrass Ballers 38-34 in the finals.
The tourney had a total of 13 teams with some big name AAU teams, such as the Huntington Pony Express, WV Thunder, SA Flight and Bluegrass Ballers from Kentucky and a few other teams from the Bluegrass State.
“The competition was stiff with some very good teams,” Dream coach Mike Tothe said. “We have a very solid group of kids and they all contribute and this weekend was no exception. We were also missing one of our starters in Ali Williamson who is rehabbing an injury. We hope to get Williamson back for our next event.”
Team members include Carly McComas, Peyton Ilderton, Carly Paynter, Allie Farmer, Olivia Dalton, Gracie Brumfield, Jill Tothe, Ali Williamson and Gracie Jones. The team is also coached by Robert Ilderton.
