Logan rips Man 19-0 in all-star opener

CHAPMANVILLE — A 16-run outburst in the second inning by the Logan All-Stars set the tone in a 19-0 win over Man on Sunday afternoon in the District 2 9-10-year-old Little League All-Star Baseball Tournament at Chapmanville’s Tracy Vickers Field.

Logan, making its return to Little League Baseball after spending the last five years in the Cal Ripken League, pounded out 11 hits in the second inning and had 14 for the game.

Logan led 3-0 after one inning of play.

Konner Lowe was the starting and winning pitcher for Logan. Jeremiah Harless took the loss.

Dawson Maynard had three hits to lead Logan. He had a triple and two singles.

Jake Ramey and Colton Goldie each had a double and a single for Logan. Trey Brown finished with two singles.

Konner Lowe added a double for Logan. Jarron Glick, Garrett Williamson, Conner Mullins and Caleb Vance each had singles for the winners.

Colton Miller and Drake Veres each had a single for Man.

Logan (1-0) was scheduled to return to the double-elimination District 2 Tournament on Monday night with a contest against Pineville (1-0). Pineville won easily over Omar, 31-0, on Sunday afternoon.

Man (0-1) was set to face Welch (0-1) on Monday night in an elimination game.

The District 2 tourney is scheduled to return with three games on Tuesday night and two more on Wednesday night. The semifinal game is set for Thursday with another final set for Friday.

The top two teams advance to the upcoming 9-10-year-old State Tournament which will be played on the same Chapmanville diamond. The state tourney is set to begin on July 10.

The Logan 7-8-year-old Coach Pitch Little League All-Stars kicked off the summer all-star season by winning the District 2 championship at Pineville.
