Homestanding and defending Class AA state champion Sissonville handed the Chapmanville Regional High School softball team its first loss of the season with Monday’s 3-1 win over the Lady Tigers at Sissonville.
Sisonville (6-3) plated two runs in the first and one more in the fifth. Chapmanville (6-1) scored its only run in the top of the seventh.
The Indians outhit the Lady Tigers 8-7 in the Cardinal Conference clash. Neither team committed an error.
Kenzie McCann pitched for Chapmanville and took the loss. Savannah Wiley was 2-for-3 while Shian Meeks had a double.
Kendal Parkins (3-2) pitched the win for the Indians. The sophomore struck out 12 batters in a complete-game effort. Parkins is coming off a stellar freshman season in which she was 14-3 with a 1.92 ERA and 92 K’s.
Reagan Johnson hit a solo homer for Sissonville in the first. Abbey Jordan also had an RBI single to make it 2-0.
Ali Harless also had a double for Chapmanville and scored on Malorie Kennedy’s RBI single in the seventh.
Jordan was 2-for-3 for Sissonville. Brooke Young also had a double.
The Lady Tigers were scheduled to host Sherman on Tuesday. Then on Thursday, Chapmanville takes on Lincoln County at 7 p.m. in the Lady Tigers’ Invitational at CRHS. Chapmanville takes on Hurricane on Friday at 6:45 and Point Pleasant on Saturday at 10 a.m. in tourney play.
