It was a dramatic win for the Logan High School softball team on Wednesday afternoon as the Lady Cats plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh and beat Sherman 4-3 at the Logan Softball Complex.
Logan (3-3) was led by pitcher Steph Curry who fired a complete game win. She struck out six batters over seven innings.
Monica Mitchell had two singles and an RBI for Logan. Mahoghani Patton also had two hits.
Taylor Napier singled and drove in two runs. Curry doubled and knocked in one run.
Chelsea Napier added a double for Logan. Kelsey Ward and Hannah Vance both singled.
The Lady Cats are scheduled to play Riverside on Friday at 4 p.m. in the Lady Tigers Invitational at Chapmanville Regional High School.
Logan then returns Saturday to play in the Chapmanville tourney with a 2 p.m. game against Poca.
LHS hosts St. Albans on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Capital 4, Man 3
The Man High School baseball team fell 4-3 on Wednesday night at Class AAA Capital.
Man led 3-1 after five innings but Capital plated two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to win.
The Cougars outhit the Hillbillies 10-5. Man had three errors to two for Capital.
Jake Adkins pitched and went seven innings, getting a no decision. John McCoy came in relief in the eighth.
John Thomas Keffer hit a three-run homer for Man.
The Billies were slated to host Lincoln County on Monday and travel to Van Tuesday but no scores or statistics were reported to the Logan Banner.
The Logan High School baseball team was scheduled to be in action on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Mingo Bay Classic Tournament at Myrtle Beach (S.C.), however, no scores were reported.
