The Man High School softball team stayed unbeaten on the season with Wednesday afternoon’s doubleheader sweept at home over Pikeview.
The Lady Billies (6-0) won 13-0 in the first game and 14-6 in the second contest.
Man came out with an offensive storm in the first game, scoring three runs in the first inning and 10 in the second.
The offensive was led by junior Grace Cline, senior Cydnee Lambert and sophomore Emilee Walker who each went 2-for-2 at the plate.
Savannah McCormack, Emilee Toler Sydney Keffer and Allie Meade also contributed on the onslaught as each went 1-for-2.
Walker notched the three-inning win for Man within the circle, striking out seven, allowing no hits and issuing two free passes.
Kaitlyn Richardson suffered the loss for the Lady Panthers. She struck out one, walked two and gave up 10 hits.
In Game 2 of the doubleheader, the Lady Billies switched up their personnel and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after one complete inning.
Freshman shortstop Chelsie Vance led off for the Lady Billies and was issued a free pass. Sophomore Taylor Owens reached safely on a bunt. Both girls came around to score.
The Lady Panthers answered in the top of the second inning as second baseman Julia Olachea scored off a hit to right field by catcher Braylee Rose.
The next run for Man came in the second inning as junior Pitcher Haylee Daniels reached safely on a bunt down the third base line. The courtesy runner for the pitcher, Toler, then advanced to score on a series of sacrifices and free passes.
Defensive lapses in the top of the third let Pikeview take a brief 4-3 lead.
That didn’t last long as Man fired back with two more runs in the fourth, six in the fifth and three in the seventh.
The Lady Panthers threatened in the fifth, scoring two more runs to no avail.
Offensive contributors for the Lady Billies included Owens, Tori Doty, Madison Meade, Shauntae Miller, Daniels, Lambert, Kaelin “Lucy” Adkins and Sarah Blevins.
Daniels and Lambert had a combined pitching effort. Daniels went four innings, striking out nine, walking one and gave up two hit.
Lambert closed the game, going two innings, with two strikeouts and two hits.
Man was scheduled to play at Scott on Thursday before heading to Chapmanville to take on Poca in the Lady Tigers Invitational.
