MAN — It was a big week for the Man High School softball team.
The Lady Billies won three out of four games in Chapmanville Regional High School’s Lady Tigers Invitational and improved to 10-1 on the season.
It was also a big win for Man pitchers Haylee Daniels and Emilee Walker, who were named this week as the Logan Banner Co-Athletes of the Week.
Last Thursday, in a 1-0 non-tournament game at Scott, Walker got the win, going seven innings, striking out nine and allowing four hits and one walk.
Then last Friday, following a 10-2 loss to Poca in the Chapmanville tournament, the Lady Billies won 11-0 over Westside as Walker pitched a complete-game win with five strikeouts and just two hits and two issued walks.
Then on Saturday in a 10-0 win over Mingo Central in the Chapmanville tournament, Daniels notched the three-inning, shutout win as she fired a one-hitter with one strikeout and two walks.
Man then wrapped up play in the Chapmanville tourney with Saturday’s 10-1 victory over Nicholas County. Walker also pitched the win in that one, striking out six batters in six innings, allowing two hits and issuing two free passes.
The Lady Billies were scheduled to play at Wyoming East on Tuesday before hosting Chapmanville on Wednesday on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Man goes to Logan on Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. game and then hosts Charleston Catholic on Friday at 5:30.
