Logan wins third straight game

The Logan High School baseball team won its third game in a row with Friday’s 5-1 victory on the road at Hurricane.

Logan (4-5) got another outstanding pitching effort from senior right-hander Chase Burnette, who allowed just one unearned run and two hits in a complete game effort. He went seven innings and ened up striking out seven.

Burnette had pitched the win last Tuesday in the Cats’ 13-0 blanking of Lincoln County.

Alex Toler was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Burnette went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in.

Tyler Topping and Jared Shawver both doubled. Shawver also knocked one run in.

Matt Brown singled for Logan.

Jake Allen had an RBI and Beau Adkins doubled for Hurricane (9-3).

Logan scored one run in the top of the first inning and three in the third to grab a 4-0 lead. The Wildcats also had a run in the fifth. Hurricane tallied its lone run in the bottom of the sixth.

The Skins had three errors in the game to one for Logan.

The Wildcats host George Washington on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Logan then travels to Ripley on Wednesday and hosts Scott on Friday at 7.

Chapmanville 7,

Point Pleasant 6

The Chapmanville Regional High School baseball team ran its record to 10-1 on the season with Friday’s come-from-behind 7-6 win at home over Class AAA Point Pleasant at Chapmanville’s Ted Ellis Field.

Chapmanville trailed 5-0 at one point.

Chris Bailey and Josh Zigmond both had two hits for the Tigers.

Chris Lush went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Big Blacks.

The Tigers also beat Ambassador Christian Academy of Williamson, 11-4, on Friday at home.

Chapmanville was scheduled to host Wayne on Saturday, weather permitting. CRHS is slated to travel to Herbert Hoover on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and then play at Tolsia on Thursday at 6. Chapmanville hosts Poca on Friday at 6.
