After tossing a perfect game on Monday in the Chapmanville Regional High School softball team’s 8-0 win at Scott, Kenzie McCann has been named as the Logan Banner Athlete of the Week.

McCann struck out seven batters and issued no walks as Chapmanville improved to 12-4 on the season and swept the season series with the Lady Hawks.

The game was stopped after five innings due to the 8-run mercy rule.

McCann retired 15 straight batters she faced. She has pitched several wins for the Chapmanville softball team so far this season.

The Lady Tigers are hoping to make it back to the Class AA state tournament for the first time since 2011 when CRHS went 1-2 in three games at Vienna.

Chapmanville last won a state softball championship in 2010, capturing its second straight crown.
