It was an easy week for the Man High School softball team.
The Lady Billies picked up a pair of road wins, blanking River View, 19-0, on Wednesday at Bradshaw and then shutting out Tug Valley, 12-0, on Thursday at Naugatuck.
In the River View game the Lady Billies plated three runs in the first inning before a combination of hits and defensive miscues by the Lady Raiders allowed Man to score a whopping 16 runs in the second.
The contest was halted in the third inning due to the mercy rule.
Offensively, a large portion of the lineup contributed in the winning effort for the Lady Billies.
Seniors Emilee Toler, Cydnee Lambert and Savannah McCormack, as well as Junior Grace Cline and sophomore Emilee Walker, had two hits each in the contest.
Juniors Sydney Keffer and Hunter Harvey and freshman Chelsie Vance also added key hits for Man.
Walker was the winner on the mound for Man. She went three innings, striking out three, walking two and giving up two hits.
In the rout at Tug Valley, in only took Man three innings to put down the Lady Panthers, a Class A sectional foe.
Man got their scoring attack started early in the first inning when junior center fielder Shauntae Miller drilled a bases loaded rocket over the head of the Lady Panther center fielder, resulting in four quick scores.
Man then sent 10 batters to the plate in the second inning and added six more runs off of key hits by freshmen twins Allie and Maddie Meade and Daniels.
Man also plated two insurance runs in the third inning before the mercy rule was enforced.
Offensively, Miller had the big stick for Man, going 2-for-2 with five RBIs.
Also adding to the offensive effort were sophomore Sarah Blevins, Daniels, Allie Meade and Maddie Meade.
Defensively, the Billies only faced 10 batters in the contest.
Daniels pitched the no-hit shutout for the Lady Billies, striking out six and giving up one free pass.
Caylee Akers suffered the loss on the mound for Tug Valley.
The Lady Billies are scheduled to travel to Buffalo on Monday, Chapmanville on Tuesday and Wyoming East on Wednesday before coming back home to host Westside on Thursday. All game times are set for 5:30.
