It was one heck of a comeback by the Scott High School baseball team but the Skyhawks lost 9-8 at Logan on Friday night at Logan’s Roger Gertz Field.
Trailing 9-4 after six innings, Scott was able to plate four runs in the top of the seventh to make it interesting.
But it was Logan (6-6) and relief pitcher T. Jay Mullins who was able to get the Skyhawks out to close out the win.
Chase Burnette had two doubles for Logan, while Matthew Brown had two hits, including a double and two RBIs.
Will Akers, Tyler Topping and Jared Shawver added two hits for each Logan, which outhit the Skyhawks 13-8. Shawver also had a triple. Alex Toler also had a triple.
Caden Buckner had three hits and two RBIs while Andrew Prince had two hits for Scott.
Both teams committed three errors in the game.
The game was tied 1-1 after one inning. Logan then had a five-spot in the last half of the fourth inning to grab a 6-1 lead. LHS also led 9-2 after five. Scott then tallied two in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Akers started on the mound for Logan. He was relieved by Brown in the third.
