The Logan High School baseball team evened up its record at 7-7 on the season with Wednesday night’s 10-4 win over Belfry, Ky., at Logan’s Roger Gertz Field.
Tyler Topping and Will Akers both had four RBIs to lead the Wildcats over the Pirates.
Jared Shawver and Alex Toler both had three hits for Logan as well. Matt Brown added two hits. Toler was 3-for-4 with two triples. Shawver went 3-for-3 with a double and and RBI.
Chase Burnette picked up the win on the mound for Logan. He went five innings and allowed four runs (one earned) and two hits with 10 strikeouts while walking two. Brown then fired the last inning and gave up one hit with one strikeout.
Burnette also had a hit and one run knocked in. Brown was 2-for-3 at the plate.
Logan outhit Belfry 11-3 but committed four errors to just one for Belfry.
The Wildcats led 3-0 after one inning but Belfry plated one run in the second and two in the third to tie it up at 3. Logan later scored five runs in the last half of the fourth to to grab a 10-4 lead. the final three innings went scoreless.
Belfry fell to 12-5 with the loss.
Logan is scheduled to play Bracken County, Ky., on Friday at 8 p.m. at Belfry, Ky.
