The Poca Dots rallied to beat the visiting Logan High School softball team on Wednesday night, 3-2, at Poca.

Logan led 2-0 after three innings after taking a two-spot in the top of the third. Poca then scored one run in the bottom of the fourth and two in the sixth. The Dots then got Logan out in the top of the seventh to preserve the win.

Monica Mitchell was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI to lead Logan (13-10). Kelsey Ward, Brooklyn Queen, Jaden Oney and Hannah Vance all had one hit each.

Ward pitched for the Lady Cats and suffered the hard luck loss.

“We led 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning but we just could not hold the lead. We just have to learn to hold people and put teams away,” Logan coach Randy Robinette said.

Logan outhit Poca 6-5. Both teams committed three errors.

The Dots are 16-4 on the season after the win.

Poca won the season series over Logan 3-0. The Dots also won 8-1 on April 1 in the Chapmanville tourney, then defeated the Lady Cats 4-1 on April 14 at Logan.

Molly Collins tied the game 2-2 with a game-tying double, knocking in Casey Skeens who had earlier tripled. Poca then won it on Sarah Fisher’s groundout to third.

Jasmine Luikart earned the win on the mound for the Dots.

The Lady Cats were scheduled to host Point Pleasant on Thursday. Logan then plays Point Pleasant again on Friday night on the road.
