The Logan High School softball team snapped a five-game losing skid with Saturday afternoon’s 4-3 victory over Winfield at the Logan Softball Complex.

Logan improved to 14-12 on the season with the win. Winfield fell to 15-10.

Hana Sedlock pitched the win for the Lady Cats, going seven innings and allowing three runs and three walks while striking out five.

Brooklyn Queen led the Logan bats as she had a double and a single. Sedlock helped her own cause with a triple and an RBI. Hannah Vance singled and drove in two runs. Monica Mitchell also had one RBI.

Logan was scheduled to host Westside on Monday then play at county rival Chapmanville on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the CRHS Senior Night game. LHS has its own Senior Night on Wednesday against Wyoming East in another 5:30 p.m. contest.

Logan then closes out the regular season Thursday at Man and May 2 at Sherman before the start of Class AAA sectional play.

Chapmanville 8,

Herbert Hoover 0

Last Thursday at Herbert Hoover, the Chapmanville Regional High School softball team ran its record to 22-4 on the season with an 8-0 win at Falling Rock over Herbert Hoover in Cardinal Conference action.

Chapmanville is also 11-2 in conference play with the only two losses coming to regional rival Sissonville.

CRHS swept the season series with Hoover, also winning 9-8 on March 23 at home.

Kara Browning led Chapmanville at the plate as she was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and a single. Kenzie McCann was 3-for-4, while Savannah Wiley, Jada Freeman and Alli Harless all singled.

McCann was the starting and winning pitcher for Chapmanville.

Back on April 18, Chapmanville won 6-0 at home over Wayne. McCann pitched the complete game win for the Lady Tigers.

Grace Belcher was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Lady Tigers. Wiley was 2-for-4 with a double. McCann and Shian Meeks were both 2-for-4. Hollie Carter was 2-for-3. Harless also added a hit.

Last Wednesday, Chapmanville won 18-0 at Mingo Central. Wiley hit a home run for Chapmanville. No further details were available.

The game last Friday at Sherman was rained out.

CRHS was scheduled to play at Class AAA Riverside on Monday. Then on Tuesday, Chapmanville hosts arch rival Logan in its annual Senior Night game. On Thursday, the Lady Tigers travel to Tolsia.

Chapmanville then plays a best-of-three game Class AA sectional series with Scott at home. Game 1 is May 3 at 6 p.m. Game 2 is set for May 4. A decisive Game 3 would then be played on May 5 if necessary.

Chapmanville is 2-0 this season against the Lady Hawks and is the overwhelming favorite to win the sectional crown. The Lady Tigers have beaten Scott twice this season in a pair of 8-0 decisions.

CRHS would then possibly play Wayne in the regional semifinals and Sissonville in the regional final for the right to move on to the state tournament.

Sissonville toppled the Lady Tigers 11-0 in last year’s Class AA sectional final. Chapmanville hasn’t played in Vienna in the state softball tournament since 2011.
