MAN — The Man High School softball team mercied the Van Lady Bulldogs 10-0 in just three innings of play Monday night as Haylee Daniels hurled a two-hit shutout and fanned five batters in posting the win.
Man got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the first inning, taking a 5-0 advantage off Van pitcher Monica Bias.
The Lady Billies pushed their lead to 8-0, scoring three more runs off Bias in the bottom of the second and then ended the game in the home half of the third frame, scoring two more runs for the 10-0 shortened mercy victory.
The Lady Billies were led in hitting by Morgan Muncy with two hits while Savannah McCormack, Emilee Toler and Sydney Keffer each had a hit and scored two times each.
Grace Cline went 1-for-2 but did not score.
Van’s lone two hits off Daniels were one each by losing pitcher Monica Bias and another by Emma Martin.
Man (18-4) was scheduled to play at Sherman on Tuesday night, weather permitting. The Lady Billies host Scott on Wednesday, host county rival Logan on Thursday and host Buffalo on Friday. All games are slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Man then hosts Wyoming East on Saturday at 1 p.m.
